So this OP is incomplete. I don't know much about Lindsays early career and if he stuck to being a bad take machine, I wouldn't care. Butt he's developing Schizophrenia in front of our eyes, so I'd like to get it out to you guys who may know more while getting his paranoid delusions out there while the Farms are up.

James Stephen Lindsay, professionally James A. Lindsay, is an American Podcaster, author, and internet personality. He gained famed in 2019 for a hoax paper at the expense of SJWs, He has a Masters in Mathmatatics and quickly found a place in the New Atheist Movement, writing three books on how Math disproves religion. Let's take a look at one description, to give you and idea.
Everyone is Wrong About God:
A call to action to address people’s psychological and social motives for a belief in God, rather than debate the existence of God

With every argument for theism long since discredited, the result is that atheism has become little more than the noises reasonable people make in the presence of unjustified religious beliefs. Thus, engaging in interminable debate with religious believers about the existence of God has become exactly the wrong way for nonbelievers to try to deal with misguided—and often dangerous—belief in a higher power. The key, author James Lindsay argues, is to stop that particular conversation. He demonstrates that whenever people say they believe in “God,” they are really telling us that they have certain psychological and social needs that they do not know how to meet. Lindsay then provides more productive avenues of discussion and action. Once nonbelievers understand this simple point, and drop the very label of atheist, will they be able to change the way we all think about, talk about, and act upon the troublesome notion called “God.”
This will be important later, in both his views on religion and the little note of the masses don't know what they really want, but James does. And he can fix it if they'll only listen to him and only him.

After the paper, he would start giving his political opinions, focusing on the philosophical origins of Communism, which he hated and blamed for everything. And only that. It soon became clear that was his Thing, and he was trying to fit everything that happened in the world into the context of Gramsci, Adrono, and Marcuse, no matter how glaringly obvious the straight forward answer was. That and his tendency to lose his mind when anyone suggested doing anything to oppose Communism he didn't like, which was anything involving using power, led him to a quiet existence on the fringes as a not too bright lolcow of and to the Online Right. But something else was brewing. In his reading of Continental Philosophers, he came across other ideas of that time. Words like Hermeticism, Theosophy, and Gnosticism. Not just the philosophical underpinnings of Communism.. the Occult Underpinnings. But surely an enlightened Atheist would only find this mildly interesting.. right?

PART 2, THE MICHAELMAS TWEET
September 29th, 2024. On the Feast of St. Michael, the Trump campaign posted the Prayer to St. Michael in an attempt to chip off Catholic voters from the Democrats. Or so you would think. But James' well read mind saw beyond the short term gain.
JamesAdvisesTrump.png
Curiosity began to peak up. Lindsay was a Trump supporter, and it was hardly an electoral misstep. What was the issue? And then, with the world watching, James deactivated his limiters, laid it all on the line, and shit a wall of Schizobabble over everyone's timelines.
6457347-2d09573822945850f140afbfaffb6a77.png

I encourage you to take the time and really soak it in. Chris Rufo would sum it up nicely, if you need a primer.

SCBBEF~1.PNG

James didn't like that. But that's absolutely what he said to my understanding. This post hit the online political sphere like a bomb. People who Lindsay had blocked for years and those who were only vaguely aware of him turned to watch in fascination. Was this a joke? A grift? Had Lindsay lost his mind? As the days wore on and Lindsay continued to sulk, lash out, and demean everyone who questioned him it seemed that he did indeed think he was going to be heralded as the genius he is by a grateful Church and Nation. But it was a busy few days and it will come up, let's look at one of the first signs he was serious. Getting in a slap fight with General Mike Flynn.
JamesvFlynn.jpg
If you want to know who James is, this tweet is it. An unwarranted sense of self importance and the kind of MidWit lack of awareness to think quoting a back of the book blurb from Sun Tzu to a guy who ran the Defense Intelligence Agency is an epic 'I got you at your own game' anime reversal.
JmaesvFlynn.pngJamesvFlynn.png
But that's not all he had in store for the General. He had video proof of Flynn reciting the last paragraph of a prayer written by a New Age Looney back in the 80s at a faith conference. It is worth noting the part provided in the video from Flynn is pretty standard and not as New Age as the rest. But it does show this probably wasn't a bit, he was serious about hunting Theosophists, and he did think the Intel Community was in bed with them.

A lot of other things would come up too in a three day binge of unappreciated genius. Mostly he's a pissy little bitch for not being taken with the seriousness his ideas deserve. Which is that 50 People from Kalamazoo, MI are brain washing children in public schools to summon the Archangel Michael, but it's actually a Demon. Through Dialectics. Speaking of.

INTERLUDE: WHAT IN HELL WAS THAT ALL ABOUT, A BREAK DOWN OF THE MICHAEL TWEET AND THE LINDSAY VERSE
The Rufo tweet sums it up nicely, but I figure here would be a good place to break down, as far as I can understand it, what the fuck the St. Michael post meant. First some bare bones definitions of terms. You'll probably see James speak more in depth about their origins and originators, but don't worry. As is his way, James tends to treat them in practice like magic spells. He recites, he doesn't understand.

THEOSOPHY: James arch nemesis. One of the Occult societies founded in the late 1800s, much like Crowley's Golden Dawn. While having no stated Dogma, Theosophist writing carries on traditions seen in Gnosticism and Hermeticism. Like all good secret societies, they leave clues where every they go for those that have Eyes to See. And James has Eyes, he will not allow them to achieve their aims. It's important to note Theosophy inspired in part a lot of New Age Religions in the late 20th century. James makes no distinction between New Agers and declared Theosophists.

THE CULT THAT RUNS THE WORLD: Replace this with Jews or Lizard People or Physchic Vampires or whatever. The good old capital T 'They'. Lindsay has concluded the global elite have been infiltrated to the gills by Theosophists, who bend the world toward their view of a new Universal Religion that erases distinction between all men, allowing humanity to ascend to Godhood. Is he worried they actually will ascend to Godhood, or that their attempts will destroy humanity? Well, that's for you to decide.

DIALECTICS: That thing you learned about from Caesar in New Vegas right after learning Caesar is pronounced with a 'k'. Comes from Hegel. An, idea, a Thesis, is proposed. It is countered by an Antithesis. From the Conflict between the two, a new way, a Synthesis will emerge. Very prominent in Marxist thought, as Marx was a Hegelian before he decided to get into politics. James has lost the plot on if dialectics are descriptive or prescriptive and he tends to treat it more like Alchemy. If the enemy presents a new Thesis, one must be careful, because your response is actually the Anti-Thesis the Theosophists were hoping for, which must naturally produce their desired Synthesis. "Wait" You say "Isn't that a fancy way of saying never do anything concrete because every single
Thesis might be a 5D Chess trap from Theosophists?" Yes, that's exactly how James uses it. He was against protesting Drag Queen Story Hour because the Left might have manufactured a shooting of a drag queen that resulting in a national backlash against Christians. (James isn't Christian btw. Keep that in mind.)

AGE OF AQAURIAS: The Theosophists accomplishing their goal, Third Impact, what ever end game James cooked up.

OPERATION CHRISTIAN NATIONALISM: A Psy-Op ran by Them to make Good Christians over reach and embrace unpopular positions so They can dialectally rally the Sheep to crush Good Christians. In practice to James it means anything that might invoke the image of the scary Christo-Fascists in an r/atheism user. 'Hey isn't that just a bunch of words to tell Christians to shut up and take it, much like Woke Right?' Hey, that's a good Thesis.

OP MICHAEL: Part of OP CN, it's the attempt to lure Catholics away from James' preferred version of Catholicism to induce the Dialectical fight. Starting in the 1900s and building steam rapidly today, it is a work by THEM to elevate an obscure figure (Keep your baggy yellow Swiss Guards pants on, Papists, this gets it's section) in Catholicism, St. Michael, to prominence. Exposure to such might lead Catholics to positions he associates as bad, namely the Crusader motif, where in the left will rise up and crush 'Religious Warlord Trump' at the polls. AND Theosophists place stock in a twisted version of St. Michael. What that means to a guy with seemingly no set theology is unclear. Thankfully, Trump himself is not aware and is being fed bad advice by The Deep State. James will warn him though.

THE FETZER INSTITUTE: In real life, the owner of the Detroit Tigers sold his shares and started a non-profit New Age 501(c) in Kalamazoo, MI. With only 60 employees and a ton of money, they do what you'd expect. Be New Age Kooks who throw money around at various studies and conferences to produce nothing of value. For James, the important part is their work on Social-Emotional Learning. It's a small piece of the puzzle of Woke Public Education. But Fetzer was ultimately a new a New Age Looney who thought he could channel St. Michael. So to James, they're in league with THEM and thus responsible for the Woke in the schools.

CLAIRE PROPHET: Another New Age Kook who made the talk show rounds in the 80s and faded into irrelevance after her failed prediction of nuclear war. Despite still having a following, she's important here because Gen. Michael Flynn ripped off a paragraph she wrote about St. Michael, or someone gave him the plagerizsed paragraph and read it at a Christian prayer meeting with the words changed to better reflect Catholic (As Gen. Flynn is) Dogma. To James, this is such a matter of import it labels Flynn as a member of OPs Michael and CN and in league with the Theosophists. It fact it has it's own blurb on her wiki. But let's look at the Archive. On 16 August 2024, there was only paragraph that was more vague.

Today? Hmmm!
Screenshot 2024-11-26 at 18-59-41 Elizabeth Clare Prophet - Wikipedia.png

Change was made Oct. 23, after James' outburst by Wiki user BrettAllpress. it was his first edit since June and as of writing his latest.

SO.. Got all that? A secret cult of 19th century Occultists and 20th Century Hippy Weirdos secretly run the world and, with the help of the owner of the Detroit Tigers, put Woke in the schools so They can Dialectically force Christians to stand up for themselves so THEY have an excuse to crush them and usher in a one world government/religion and achieve Apotheosis. To this end they have sent Gen. Michael Flynn other members of the Deep State to steal Christian prayers, redirect them to a Zoroastrian Chaos Demon, and trick Donald Trump into encouraging more Catholics to pray to obscure poorly understood figure St. Michael. In doing so, Trump will fulfill the role of Christian Warlord Antithesis set for him, ushering in the final Synthesis. Or provide your own interpretation! It doesn't matter because these are the ramblings of a mad man. But a well read one who could still string together a sentence. So, how'd this go? Lindsay claim might be wild, but it's out of character for him to do so without some logic. And he has the receipts. He's done the research on Fetzer, Clair Prophet, The Theosophists, all of them. He didn't leave something out, did he? Like the Faithful who's Holy Day he just inserted himself into?

PART 2.1: OH RIGHT, THE CATHOLICS
James v Priest.jpg

Yeah, in all his prep work to take up his role defender of the Faithful against False Teachers, James didn't bother to look into Catholic beliefs or what their accepted Dogma is. In ignorance or arrogance, he took stock of his vague memories of being forced to go to Mass by his grandma and decided he had the measure of it. Aside from his usual detractors, James now found instead of being grateful for his guidance and thanking his genius, the Catholics were actually deeply offended by him. First, the obvious. No, St. Michael the Archangel was not an obscure figure few Catholics had ever heard of before the Theosophists tricked them into thinking he was a big deal in the 20th Century, much less be tricked into thinking he's some sort of advocate of unnecessary war and violence. He's actually one of the most beloved and invoked Saints, the one who threw Satan down and stepped on his neck, guardian of Mankind; Constantine dedicated the first sanctuary to him in the 4th Century. They did not like being told an at least 17 hundred year tradition was invented a hundred years ago as a trick and they needed to be careful around this Michael guy, He's also wrong in that Protestants, as well as Jews and Muslims, also recognize St. Michael. He's basically a step below insulting the Virgin Mary as a way to introduce himself.

But it gets worse. Because James didn't consider understanding Christian's mindset before he set out, he can only think of things through the lens of the Occult. His framework for thinking on the Spiritual is inherently Gnostic. He may dislike Gnostics, but with out understanding why they were called heretics, he can't help himself but repeat them. Two specific, and big, points the Church holds against them is 1) The supposition that God and Jesus are just one among equal spirits playing a great game for the world, and 2) That there is secret knowledge of the World that only the worthy and learned possess. Which flies quite in the face Salvation being free given to all and implies God intentionally tricked the world. To heed James' warning, or even to argue against it on his terms, is to commit some pretty big heresy. Presenting the Christian and Gnostic Michaels as worthy of the same consideration is also one. Not that that will stop James.
JamesReadsBooks.png
James was undaunted, as he had read BOOKS. Which? Not the Bible or anything about Christianity, apparently. But BOOKS.

James the Gnostic.pngJamestheGnostic.png
I'd like you to take the three previous screen caps and my point about James unwittingly embracing Gnosticism into consideration.
JamesthenewTrinity.png
JamesandO'Fallon.png
JamesvDiscrecsion.png
Did his intended audience, faithful Christians, enjoy his statement that Satan is a fictional character and that his schizobabble should be given the same weight as their actual religion? Fuck no! But on James goes! He would even double down on his statement that no one outside of Catholic Clergy had a solid understanding of St. Michael.

JamesvChurch1.pngJamesvsPPrayer.png

It is amazing how far his head is up his own ass that he's this wrong, been told several times, is and still talking down to his audience that they need to grow up and accept James Lindsay knows whats best for them. Another point on James' compounding list of reasons he's alienating his audience. Being vaguely worded on if he believes the spiritual world is real, it leaves two options to an audience that very much does. 1} He does believe, which means he's denying the Supremacy of God by implying prayers can be misdirected and Demons may triumph over God if we say the magic words wrong or 2) He doesn't, and he's a smarmy atheist dictating to Christians how to pray based on what makes him uncomfortable. Neither are endearing and both are out right insulting. Several people would kindly try to explain to him why his argument wasn't working, which he dismissed out of hand.

PART 2.2: So it isn't going well...
JamesShame.png

With his attempt to win over Catholics up in flames, James would retreat into petulant sulking for the rest of the day and lash out at the Ignorant losers who couldn't see his enlightened genius in absolute fit of New Atheism "WHY WON'T YOU STUPID XIANS LISTEN TO ME? I'M JAMES LINDSAY!"

JamesHissyfit.pngJamesHissyFit1.pngJamessvRetards.pngJamesvCatholic.pngJamesvChurch.png
JamesvFrancis.pngJamesvFrancis1.png
JamesvJP2.png
Yes, insulting Pope St. John Paul the Great, who most Catholics INCLUDING JAMES were alive, and have a great respect, for is gonna win 'em over. Doubly concerning since Lindsay, Anti-Communist, should be aware of JPII's involvement in the collapse of the Eastern bloc. I also like his little sulking about how it would take a lot of work to repair the trust between him and Rome, as if they are under any obligation to book THE James Lindsay to speak.

JamesvChurch2.pngJamesvReligion.png
As the argument carried on, the Catholics strangely seemed to back off. In something I'm sure would get under his skin if he realized it, James actually wasn't that interesting. Catholics are quite used to being the subject of conspiracies, and once the novelty of his claims wore off, he was just another 'intellectual' atheist demanding God come to him. They resorted to prayer. James recoiled like a vampire exposed to.. well you can fill it in. Call that Antithesis.

JamesvPageau.png
Just pissing on the ashes of the bridge, mixing it with bat dung and and sulfur, creating an explosive to demolish the remains.

CoughlinCallsItOff.jpg
Eventually one of his fellow philosophy quoting schizos would call James off by noting he's getting new evidence Catholics have heard of St. Michael before, and they should reevaluate their messaging.

And that ended the first war of James' schizo theories and the Catholic Church. James would return to his usual political posts and started joking about it, though clearly still ass pained. Hey unrelated but did you know the early stage of schizophrenia, Prodromal, comes in cycles and isn't clearly obvious as psychosis? Anyway, this peace would last about three weeks.

Oh good someone else started this thread so now I don't have to.

This guy is FULL of milk, there will be endless hours of entertainment for anyone who chooses to follow his antics. Just don't try too hard to make sense of his ramblings, you will give yourself a headache.

Sword guy arc is a classic. Looking forward to that chapter.

His history goes waaaaaaaaaaay back to 2008 Skepticism/New Atheism, Elevatorgate later on.
Google Sokal Squared affair too.
Look up "po-mo trad" on X for previous massive spergout and banning of his followers. Should still be there.
Some video from his RW critics
(site seems to not be fully up, embed failed)
Tag me if you find anything interesting or weird, I am somewhat unfortunately knowledgeable about James (more about the past, than his present, no more X for me for 4 years)
One of his most controversial takes that resulted in huge backlash

Thanks for the tip. I certaintly will as I was just kinda aware of him and would like to build up to how out of left field his full on occult hunting nonsense came.

Lindsay is falling into this black hole because he cannot admit that his 90's and early 2000's brand of liberalism whig history and atheism is directly responsible for the rise in SJWs and neo-communism bullshit.

I don't envy you OP, this will require walls and walls of text to fully explain his journey from mild provocateur into schizo-cow.

I know, but we have an excellent chance at documenting a schizocow as it happens. He reminds me heavily of Mike Sparks' spiral if we caught it somewhere between 'I hate the United States Marines for being mean to me' and 'Hitler had a Death Ray.'

I find him worthy of attention regardless, in fact if I were still as active on KF I might have thought about making a thread on him myself (Or, more likely, pressed someone better at writing to do it). Despite the many odd takes he does have a lot of interesting things to say about cult mentality and how they work on a philosophical level. Sadly, after that he just seems to immediately flip into all of them being part of one continuous global conspiracy and I think that's exactly where we're entering schizo territory.

His long form videos can be good noise to put on when you're doing something else as long as you're aware that buckets of salt aren't enough for what you're hearing.

I really appreciate his distillations of communist literature, and I think the price of understanding that stuff is you realize it's everywhere and it makes you seem like a nut to people that don't recognize it.

That being said, James definitely is the guy who can't see that we are here politically because of all the framework people like him laid in the 80's and 90's, and he utterly refuses to take any responsibility for it. Guys like him took all the breaks off society and can't figure out how it got totally out of control. Now that we've managed to wrestle things back into control through basically luck and the fact the system was too big to totally fall apart in 15 years their plan is instead of turning some of the breaks back on we'll just start over from before we lost control and drive a little more careful.

This is kind of sad, I genuinely love his blog and podcast.

That does seem to be his biggest problem, his unwillingness to consider the possibility that leftism/liberalism/secularism is to blame for all the ills going on today, especially as he continues to simp for the gay rights movement as he criticizes the trans/queer movement.

Even Carl Benjamin seems more willing to entertain those thoughts than Lindsay is.

This dude's entire worldview is a /x/-tier schizo conspiracy about gnostic theosophists trying to summon the antichrist by placing gender-neutral bathrooms everywhere, except it's also somehow based on radical normiism and rejection of everything but center-right culturally christian democracy. Actually fucking insane how incompetent he is about every single topic he talks about, he doesn't understand Christianity, he doesn't understand Gnosticism, he doesn't understand Marxism.

Why would you need "distillations" by people who have an agenda that the subject dangerous and stupid? It's literally propaganda, of course you started seeing it everywhere, you got brainwashed.

The podcast with Auron MacIntyre/Prudentialist is a solid rundown on James' spiral post-Michaelmas tweet, glad someone else caught it too.

A few pieces for background on James Lindsay:
Here's the main piece of media teasing the results of the grievance study incident:

He'd go on to found New Discourses, which was meant to serve as a guide for laymen outside of academia to spot critical theory

Here's his video "breaking down" his concept of The Woke Right, posted approximately a month ago. It's incredibly scattered - he starts talking about the various enlightenment movements and then absolutely spiraling, first invoking Nick Fuentes, but then also wrapping in Tucker Carlson among others.
Thanks for starting this thread, OP. Excited to see where this goes

Here's a longish twitter thread from May 2023 talking about how James Lindsay predicted that during the summer 2023 that "Conservative Christianity will be largely politically nullified". Maybe when this didn't manifest he started spiralling internally?
jl1.png

Ghost Archive Thread

IMO, James Lindsay has tried to function as an interloper on the right specifically so he can keep the Overton window from shifting any further. But in so doing, I think he's made himself actually insane.
