My personal feelings about this show are overall positive. I like the contrast between Norm's absurd dialogue against his typical nonchalant tone. Laurie's overacting can be funny, but sometimes it's just annoying. Danny is fat so he's automatically funny. I liked the concepts for some of these episodes but I think they would have been funnier if the dialogue was written to be more raw and edgy, which is the way Norm would have done it.

So far I have finished seven episodes of Season One. I am definitely biased towards liking this show since A) I liked Norm Macdonald already from the clips I watched and B) this is actually the FIRST sitcom I have ever watched. Haven't seen Friends or Seinfeld, vaguely seen 70s Show or other older ones on the telly once but none have interested me until I heard Mr. Ol' Chunk O' Coal himself starred in one.

Rating: 7/10

Norm was a one-of-a-kind comic genius. His "roast" of Bob Saget is still one of the cringiest/funniest things I've ever seen. Only Norm could pull something like that and make it hilarious.
"Your face... looks... like a cauliflower."

My first exposure to Norm, but I don't think it did him justice, he wasn't playing to a lot of his strengths. Might check it out later, see how it holds up.
I guess the only strength he could play to was his delivery which, to be fair, you need very good delivery to make a joke land, and Norm is one of the best in that business. But outside of that I definitely agree, Norm would have pushed far harder and got his show cancelled early.

Speaking of which it's honestly quite sad that everything that Norm has made lives such a short life. The Norm Show did moderately well on ABC, then for some god forsaken reason the execs moved the show to different channels and different airtimes which naturally drove interest to the ground. It really is those damn executives messing with Norm's shit.

Don Ohlmeyer made sure for a while that NBC wouldn't air Dirty Work's trailers to spite Norm over OJ jokes. Sports with Norm lasted only one season. Norm had another show concept in development in the 2000s that was cancelled. I can't imagine if that hurt him or if he was too busy gambling his life away to care very much.

nice, thanks for sharing! norm was such a king.
You are welcome. Us deeply closeted Norm fans got to stick together!

This has nothing to do with the show but I'll go ahead and dump other Norm sperging here. Like a lot of people I mainly know his works through youtube clips, and the I'm not Norm channel is a good archive of them, but god it makes me MATI when I see it shill the guy's bootleg merchandise off of this dead man's name. Where these shitty ads abruptly interrupt a video, and from what I'd skimmed I've never seen a comment bring up how shameless they are. I'm sure the uploader deletes such comments the second they pop up

Yeah I am surprised at how I can click on a several years old video and still get ads from the video itself. Seems the grift has been going on for some time. To be fair I would love to have a "Deeply Closeted" shirt or "What are you, Down Syndrome?" shirt.

I love Norm, but I had to stop watching The Norm Show after about 2 minutes. The laugh track is ridiculously over the top, almost to the point of insulting Norm.

That said, the typical American sitcom viewer is probably too retarded to know when Norm is making a funny, so maybe there was no other alternative put to pile on the canned laughter to Big Bang Theory levels.

Norm Macdonald Live had an amazing run, his Mike Tyson interview was one of my favorites.. When he got a deal with Netflix it wasn't nearly as good, and I think he had to take down his Youtube show as part of the deal.
I saw him in 2017 and while hilarious, he seemed to be fucked up, probably on benzos :(

Didn't click but I'm guessing it's the one set in the city. He did another series where he moved to the country and lived in a small town. Amazing he had two series so close to each other.
