With those facebook posts in mind here's a little inside baseball about what I think is happening with Adam and Japan.
Adam has agreed to work at an eikaiwa, or an English conversation school job. In theory it's a job where shy Japanese people can practice practical English in a safe setting. In practice it's a job where the person tries to sell unnecessary textbooks to people who are trying to pad resumes. He might have a few people who want to really practice English, but most of his "clients" will probably be kids who are dumped off after school. One thing is that because eikaiwa is solely a customer facing business, Adam has basically no rights. There are plenty of stories of kids spitting on teachers and telling them to kill themselves, and the companies just tell the teacher to bear it.
Now, I strongly think that Adam is going to work for NOVA, which is the biggest and sleaziest eikaiwa chain. I think this because he was bragging about working "as an independent contractor," which meant he would be able to "keep more money." In practice, NOVA started moving employees over to independent contractor status two or three years ago because that way, they can skirt labor law and don't have to pay for things like insurance or pension. They also have to provide much less suport, as seen by him having such trouble getting his shit in order. As a further consequence, NOVA can fuck with Adam all they want. A few years ago they announced that not only would people who missed lessons due to sickness not be paid, they would have to pay back a penalty fee. Also while most Japanese labor law is pretty strongly in favor of workers, I think that independent status means they can dump Adam whenever they want. Considering his terrible work ethic and bad constitution, both of these are terrible for him. If the people he's teaching decide they think he's a weirdo creep or he's out too much doing cosplay, he might be out a job really quick.
There's been rumors that NOVA might be going bankrupt soon. The first time that happened, people suddenly stopped being paid. If that Facebook is correct, maybe it's happening sooner rather than later.
Adam is absolutely fucked when it comes to finding an apartment, and this is why I think he won't make it at the end of the day . First of all, many if not most landlords will not rent to foreigners at all. Those that do are going to want to meet them to make sure that they can speak Japanese and aren't the typical loser foreigner. It's not surprising that him trying to do everything online has come up with nothing. Most people fresh over just hold their nose and take the overpriced housing their employer helps set up, but I think Adam has already turned that down. Also moving in Japan via a private lease is expensive. Just in order to get the keys people have to pay 5 or 6 times month's rent in gift money to the landlord and real estate agent. Based on the above, he's not going to be able to afford that. Add in that he wants to live in expensive central Tokyo so he can do his faggy anime shit, and he's toast. His best bet now is to find some bedbug infested sharehouse/hostel shithole filled with Nepalise bunkmates.
He better stop his useless spending because Japan is cracking down on tourists and foreigners with work Visas making money from streaming. The government is claiming that it's against the law/visa restrictions that stop from tourists from having an income and it's violation of a work Visa that stops people from working jobs that are outside what the Visa was intended for. Cheebs might get kicked from Japan if he continues to stream and sell insurance in America while he's in Japan. He can thank all these retards who go to Japan to start shit and harass people for content on streams.
This is absolutely true. Getting a work visa in Japan isn't that difficult as long as someone has the basic requirments and doesn't have a criminal record. But the immigration office does stay on top of people. Foreigners have to get a special visa if they want to work part time. People working in schools have to get special permission from the immigration office for school related things like speech contests. Also, banks demand foreign residents provide their foreign registration number so they can report suspicious transactions. His plan isn't going to work like he thinks.
Also takoyaki is so fucking overrated, find some good Japanese food to obsess over you fucking loser.
