Big fan of this female character design topic always getting boiled down to "you just want it to make your pee pee hard" nigger I'm tired of looking at ugly characters. I'm tired of the west's weird obsession with emphasizing the nasolabial fold on every female design. You can have a character not be "conventionally attractive" but also not be a complete garbage fire to look at, it's the foundation of aesthetics and visual design.
This stuff also just seems to get applied with a blanket policy especially in video games to the point that fortnite like a year or so ago just started quietly adding wrinkles / laugh lines to female lego skins and only added them to male ones recently (not all of em' though). I sound like an insane person noticing that but no that just kind of happened. Meanwhile I can go look up minifigs from 2025 and huh weird they don't have those lines.
People just in general are tired of the homunculus designs that manifest from the slop equation of:
She's got a lot of the features I've seen people say "da chuds" complain about. No matter how you feel about her face or her design, even if you don't like her or feel she's too mannish, the main point here is that visually this is a million times nicer to look at than say something like.... this?
That's what like 99% of the complaints actually boil down to it's just people not knowing how to communicate what they're feeling. Most people don't care about a character not being "literally sex", they just don't want to be ripped out of the experience every time they see the characters face.
Also bonus points for this ref image: Wookipedia uses a pic of Kay with softened features and almost every pic on her wiki entry has her facing away from the camera jfc not even the people that defend it can be genuine about it.

And as for the "not be complete garbage fire to look at" thing, here's Olivia from the most recent Monster Hunter.Make female character ➔ Designed to be attractive because both sexes enjoy being attractive and looking at attractive things ➔ Oh fuck, is this woman attractive for herself or for others? Don't appeal to the male gaze dial it back ➔ Repeat at least 20+ times

Also thread tax:
Fromsoft and their mainline souls series is primarily carried by momentum and where they've established themselves culturally, and people put up with a lot of bullshit because of that. Almost every game has gotten worse as far as enemy reactivity to players go. They've designed every subsequent game like a retard who's seething over the fact that people beat their game that was memed about difficulty. Elden Ring is so exaggerated to the point that nobody even bothers to defend it, they just kinda shrug and go "yeah it does kinda have the most retarded 30 second long windup fakeout telegraphs imaginable". What I mean by saying it's carried is that if their games that provided them with their initial success (Demon & Dark Souls) had any of these design conventions to this degree, in them? Everyone would've passed them up or just written them off as retarded.
Hell you can't even say they can claim ignorance cause they 100% know what they're doing, to the point that the main parry/samurai style character from Nightreign has a built in parry that just works like a block, and has an insanely huge window for the attack to land in that makes the parry valid. Even they know that if they asked for normal parry timing and accuracy with this kind of stuff then you just wouldn't get to use this character like they were intended.
"Challenging" and "Difficult" are two very different things.
Also they blow dicks at telling a story. Item descriptions and lorefags on youtube don't make a story.
Lore that's discovered from people data mining a game that most people won't know how to datamine also does not make a story.
