I imagine that if he tries to do so, Hardin will object on the very same day. IFP status still requires approval of the court, and now that Greer's status has been recently revoked by the lower court (because he himself admitted he is not a pauper anymore) I imagine that Hardin would have ammunition to argue against it being granted once it goes back to the appeals court. But as everyone has pointed out, it's hard to predict what these clowns will ultimately rule, maybe they will just take Greer's word because they are lazy and don't really want to bother looking into it.
